The hijack point is the sharpest part here — and AI is about to make it worse before it makes it better. Once agents can run the mechanical outbound layer, anyone can slap “GTM” on a cold-email service with a tool subscription behind it and charge the 50% premium you mentioned. Which is exactly why the cross-functional definition is worth defending: the part that survives commoditization is the judgment — positioning, pricing, which segments to even chase — not the sending. If “GTM” collapses into “outbound with better tooling,” the term loses its meaning the moment the tooling gets cheap.
